Bob Schryvers, a South Dakota native, has lived in the Black Hills for over 40 years. He has always enjoyed being around wildlife and the outdoors. He is a self-taught artist, as well as a self-taught taxidermist. Bob is best known for his wildlife and western oil paintings. His paintings have won "Best of Show" at prestigious art shows, and have been featured on the magazine covers of the Bison Journal and Fur, Fish and Game.
Bob's interest in artwork began as a child, but he did not seriously pursue it until 1986. His 40 years of experience as a licensed taxidermist have greatly assisted him in his painting. Creating lifelike mountings through muscle, facial, and other detail has added to his consciousness of realistic creations in oils. With his attention to detail, Bob is able to make scenes come alive on canvas. Many of his paintings involve several weeks...even months, of work and study, but he prefers investing whatever time it takes to make a scene correct in minute realism. He plans to continue with his art in order to share his love of nature with others.
